MBN / SEKADAU, West Kalimantan Regional Police – Police visited motorists on Jalan Merdeka Timur, Sekadau Hilir District, Sekadau, on Monday (August 17, 2026). Right in front of SMPN 1 Sekadau, Traffic Police personnel provided traffic enforcement advice and distributed safety brochures.
The activity was a mobile information drive (penling) by the Sekadau Police Traffic Unit, held to coincide with the 81st anniversary of Indonesian Independence Day. Officers approached passing and stopped motorists to convey messages about security, safety, order, and smooth traffic flow (kamseltibcar lantas).
In addition to warnings, brochures containing traffic safety messages were also distributed to motorists. Officers reminded the public to obey traffic regulations, use safety equipment, and exercise caution while driving.
Sekadau Police Traffic Unit Chief, Inspector Sudarsono, through Acting Public Relations Officer, Inspector Iwan Kurniawan, stated that it’s important to approach road users directly. This method is considered a more effective way to convey safety messages to the public.
“In this activity, we remind the public to always be disciplined and prioritize safety when driving. Simple things like wearing a helmet and obeying traffic rules are very important,” said IPDA Iwan.
He said that the momentum of the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence was also used to encourage the public to fill independence with positive things, including getting used to being orderly when using the road.
“In traffic, we all have a role to play. Let’s respect each other, obey traffic rules, and always prioritize safety,” he concluded.
